How do I apply for a driving licence in Ireland?
The National Driver Licence Service says you can apply online for a first driving licence with a Public Services Card and a verified MyGovID, after you pass the driving test in that category within the last two years. The fee on that page is €65. At 70 or over, the fee is not charged.
Papers this process lists
- Public Services Card and verified MyGovID
- Driving test pass in that category from the last two years
- Proof of address from the last six months, if it differs from the Public Services Card
- Proof you normally live in Ireland, if birth and nationality are outside the EU, EEA, Switzerland, the UK, and Northern Ireland
- Medical report from the last month, if your case needs one
- Driver Certificate of Professional Competence, if your case needs it
- Initial Basic Training, if your case needs it
