FAQ

Straight answers. We would rather say the hard part out loud. The app will keep getting better. And this page should stay true to what ships.

How do I get MiSalvo?

Coming soon on the App Store and Google Play. See Get the app and follow us for launch updates.

Is MiSalvo the same as Mesalvo?

No. MiSalvo is spelled M-I, as in misalvo.com. It is household life admin: papers, Vault, Missions, and Salvos. Mesalvo is a different company (hospital software in Germany). Same sound when spoken. Different spelling and product.

Is MiSalvo for the sandwich generation?

Sandwich households. The person who holds the pile. Bills, school papers, insurance, claims. Kids and parents in the same week. That is a common load, not a specialty app. Invite your partner or a parent. They join your Circle. They do not pay. If you need papers ready when someone asks, MiSalvo is for you. Benefit facts help you claim what published rules already allow. We never say you qualify.

What is household life admin?

The quiet work that keeps a home running. Papers, dates, and can you send me that. Not the shared family calendar. The pile behind it. Missions keep the day on one list. Vault holds the papers. A Salvo is the pack you send when someone asks. You send it. We never file.

How easy is MiSalvo to use?

Anyone who can share a document or a photo can use MiSalvo. Built for the phone in one hand. Seniors use the same path. Face ID or Touch ID. No password to forget. No email reset. Open Mail, your bank app, or Photos. Tap Share. Pick MiSalvo. When you set up Vault, write down your Vault key once. That keeps your keys yours. Day to day: capture, find, and send a pack when you need one.

How do I create an account and sign in?

It takes under two minutes. Download the app, enter your name and a Circle name, pick your country, and confirm with Face ID or Touch ID. Sign-on is biometric only. No passwords to remember. Nothing to phish. No email resets. Seniors sign in the same way. We never connect to your inbox or bank to get started.

What is a Vault?

One private place for the papers that run your life. Encrypted on your phone. Keys stay with you. Staff cannot read the files. Each document is Protected or Fortified. Fortified needs a fresh Face ID or Touch ID every time you open it. Capture once. Find it when you need it.

What is a Circle?

A Circle is the group you set up. One person pays. They choose 2, 4, or 6 seats. That is how many people can join.

If someone invited you, you do not pay. You never enter a card. It is like a streaming plan. One household pays. Everyone else uses a seat.

Each person gets their own Vault. They save their own papers. They unlock with Face ID. They do not share a login. You can assign a Mission to someone in the Circle. A Circle member can see its current status and update it.

The bill payer invites Adults and Seniors once a Vault trial or plan is active. Parents or legal guardians add children under 18 (Juniors).

How does a Junior join or replace a phone?

The bill payer must be the child’s parent or legal guardian. After a biometric check, they add the Junior and send a private one-tap link. Its short-lived secret is not shown in the message or sent to MiSalvo’s web server. The Junior has a separate custodial Vault. The bill payer can open its papers; Admins and other Circle members cannot. A replacement-phone link reconnects the same Vault and revokes old Junior sessions. Juniors do not need a Vault key or Spare Key.

What are Missions and nudges?

Missions is the household list. School night, pay the bill, renew a passport. Assign it to someone in your Circle. They see it on their phone. They did not buy a plan. Today nudges are quiet prompts for what is still open. Always free. No email. No shame tone. Optional push if you turn it on. When you capture a bill or an identity paper, you can set a Mission so the date does not live only in your head.

Does MiSalvo sync with my calendar?

One way. When you create a Mission (and keep Add to calendar on), MiSalvo writes only the Mission title plus its date and time into your calendar. No notes, no location, no links, no attendees. MiSalvo does not read your calendar or copy your busy week into the app. Optional: share a calendar screenshot to turn a few dates into Missions. You pick what lands; the rest stays out.

How do I get a clear scan? Why might some details be missing?

The phone reads the picture you give it. A flat paper in good light works best. For physical papers, use the phone’s built-in document scanner. Notes on iPhone, or Google Drive on Android. Then tap Share. Pick MiSalvo.

We will not always read every date, amount, or name. That is honest. It is not a broken promise. The camera has to see the words. Dim light, glare, crumpled or folded paper, faded ink, tiny print, or a lens that needs a wipe can leave a field blank. An older phone camera can struggle more. A photo of a screen is often worse than a flat scan.

The paper still saves in your Vault. Check the details before you save. Type what the phone missed. We do not invent a number so the form looks complete.

Wipe the lens. Lay the paper flat on a contrasting background. Keep a shadow off the page.

How do I add a file from my laptop, Google Drive, or Dropbox?

Capture is on the phone. There is no upload from a laptop browser. We do not connect Google Drive, Dropbox, or iCloud.

If the file is already in Drive or Dropbox, open it in that app on your iPhone. Tap Share. Pick MiSalvo. In Dropbox, use Send a copy. Not Copy link. A link is not the file.

If the file is only on a Mac, AirDrop it to your iPhone, then Share it into MiSalvo from Files. Better: open the same file in Drive or Dropbox on the phone and Share from there.

Do not leave personal papers sitting on your Desktop. Store them securely in your own Vault on MiSalvo. If someone got access to your laptop, what will they find? A laptop Desktop, a Downloads folder, or a shared Drive folder is a waiting room. Anyone with that folder, a shared link, or that computer can see them. Share the file into your Vault once. Then you can remove the loose copy.

We do not go looking in your Drive or Dropbox. You choose the file.

What happens when I capture a bank or card statement?

The phone reads the paper you Shared. Household Finance can show top spends, how this period compares with the last one, and charges that look like the same service twice. Quiet facts. No shame. No bank login. Meaning stays on your device. Staff cannot read the statement. This is not advice and not a budget score.

What is a Salvo?

You start a refund, a benefit application, or a dispute. You stop when they keep asking for more information, not because you never began. A Salvo is a neat pack from your Vault. Checklist first. Then Check Vault. Then capture what is still open. You fire it when you want to claim what published rules already allow, or show up complete when someone asks. You send it. MiSalvo never files and never contacts agencies for you. We help you bring what they asked for. We do not guarantee money back, approvals, or outcomes. The other party decides.

What is the Library?

Library is always free. On the website, and as benefit facts in the app. Money facts, Benefits facts, and appointment checklists. Published rules and official links, country by country, in your language. Not advice. Never “you qualify.” Open Library, then send a page if it helps someone. It is not your Vault: the Library is public facts; Vault holds your own papers.

Does MiSalvo work with Siri?

Yes. On iPhone you can use Siri with MiSalvo. Say “Hey Siri, MiSalvo” to hear today’s open Missions and nudges without opening the app. You can also ask Siri to create a Mission, or to open Capture, Vault, Missions, or Salvos. Find the shortcuts under Siri suggestions or in the Shortcuts app. Siri only hears mission and nudge titles we allow for hands-free use. Siri never reads your Vault papers, amounts, or Salvo packs. Open MiSalvo once while signed in so today’s plan stays fresh for Siri.

Is MiSalvo free? How do you make money?

Only the bill payer pays. People you invite use your seats and never buy their own plan. MiSalvo 2, 4, or 6 is how many people can sit at the table. The app is free to download. Missions stays free. Library is always free. Vault and firing a Salvo use a subscription after a 14-day trial that starts when you save your first document. Payments go through Apple or Google. We never see your card. You are the customer, not the product. We do not sell ads or take a cut of money you recover.

Is there a referral program?

Yes. When we launch. You’ll find it in Account. Share your link from there. Friends start their own MiSalvo account (not your Circle) and get the normal 14-day Vault trial. You earn a free month only after they are billed successfully for 2 months. Not when they sign up, and not during the trial. Credit goes to the Circle bill payer. Up to 10 free months.

Can MiSalvo staff read my documents?

No. Vault papers are encrypted on your device. Keys stay with you. We store sealed copies so your devices can stay in step. Staff cannot open them. There is no staff tool that decrypts your Vault.

You hold sealed copies. Isn’t that still “holding my data”?

Yes. And we say so plainly. While you use MiSalvo, the company stores sealed copies of your files for sync. Encryption means staff cannot read the papers. It does not mean “nobody holds anything.” After you leave and wipe completes, we do not keep a product stash of your Vault “for bugs or AI.” Backup systems can lag for a short time; that remaining custody is infrastructure reality, not a back door.

Is MiSalvo 100% secure?

No system is 100% secure. We designed MiSalvo for a worst case on our servers. If someone reached them, they would find sealed Vault blobs, not readable papers. Keys stay on your phone. We fix issues we find. If encryption cannot finish, we stop. We do not save an unlocked copy. Details: Security.

Where is my data stored?

Vault papers are encrypted on your phone. We store sealed copies so your devices stay in step. Staff cannot read them.

Today, households in the United States, Canada, and Mexico use a host in Ohio, United States. When we open the UK, those households will use Frankfurt, Germany. EU households, including Ireland, will use the same host in Frankfurt, Germany. South America is planned for São Paulo, Brazil. Asia-Pacific is planned for Singapore. When we open India, those households will use Mumbai, India. South Africa stays on the United States host until a local option exists. Apple billing and optional push can still run outside that country. Picking a city is not a privacy certification. Details: Privacy.

Do you sell my data or train AI on my documents?

No. We never sell or rent your data, train AI on your papers, or run advertising trackers in the app. Document recognition and labelling run directly on your phone. There is no AI chat that reads your Vault.

What are my safety nets?

MiSalvo gives you four layers. Only the last three are for a new phone.

1. Everyday unlock. Face ID or Touch ID on this phone. Fast and frictionless. It does not replace recovery if this phone is gone.

2. Vault key. The letters and numbers you wrote down once. Works even when every old device is gone (unless the account was frozen).

3. Spare Key. Optional. Someone you trust approves recovery but never sees your papers.

4. Another device. A one-time code from a phone or tablet that still has MiSalvo unlocked (Account → Send recovery code; expires in about 15 minutes).

For a new phone you need at least one of items 2, 3, or 4. Set up two if that helps you sleep. MiSalvo cannot unlock you by email or staff reset.

If you lose all three backups, neither you nor MiSalvo can recover your Vault. That is the honest cost of zero-knowledge encryption.

Juniors: the bill payer sends a private replacement link. Not these adult paths.

Why do I have to write down a Vault key?

Your Vault key is the offline backup only you hold. MiSalvo is zero-knowledge. We do not keep a copy. Staff cannot open your Vault. There is no forgot my Vault key email. If we could reset your key from our servers, we could also read your papers.

See What are my safety nets? for all four layers. The Vault key is the one that works alone. Spare Key and another device are optional extras.

Write your Vault key on paper once. Keep it offline, away from your only phone. Juniors do not need a Vault key or Spare Key. Their parent or legal guardian controls recovery.

What is Spare Key?

Spare Key is optional social recovery. Like an Apple or Google recovery contact, but for your Vault. You pick one trusted person. They receive a sealed package through a private link. Day to day they do nothing and never see your papers. They are a blind vessel, not a co-user. If you lose your phone and need back in, you send a recovery request. They tap Allow or Don’t. Remote is fine. After a short cooling window (so you can stop a mistake), you set a new Vault key on the new device. Protected papers work right away; Fortified papers may wait 24 hours unless you enter your new Vault key sooner. Every six months MiSalvo asks you to run a quick health check so you know the holder still has the package (a new phone wipes it silently. Same number is not enough). Spare Key is recovery only. It is not a spare password MiSalvo can look up, and it does not let us read your Vault.

How do I recover my Vault on a new phone?

See What are my safety nets? for the overview. On a new phone, choose the path you still have:

1. Vault key The letters and numbers you wrote down at first save. Works even if every old device is gone (unless the account was frozen. See below).

2. Spare Key If you nominated someone, they tap Allow on their phone. You then set a new Vault key after a short cooling window. Your holder never sees your papers.

3. Another signed-in device On a phone or tablet that still has MiSalvo unlocked: Account → Send recovery code. Enter that one-time code on the new phone (Face ID required to create it; it expires in about 15 minutes).

You need at least one of those paths. MiSalvo cannot unlock you by email, support ticket, or staff reset. By design.

If you lose all signed-in devices, your Vault key, and Spare Key, neither you nor MiSalvo can recover your Vault contents. That is permanent. Nobody can open those papers. That is the cost of keys that never live on our servers.

Frozen account: If someone in your Circle froze your account after a lost phone, the Vault key path is blocked until you reopen via Spare Key or another signed-in device, then write a new Vault key.

Juniors: the bill payer sends a private replacement link. Not these three adult paths.

What if I lose my phone?

If your phone is missing or stolen, someone in your Circle can tap Freeze account to lock your Vault and kill active sessions. MiSalvo also locks down if Face ID or Touch ID settings change on the device.

To open on a new phone you still need a recovery path: your written Vault key, Spare Key (if you set one up), or another signed-in device that can send a one-time recovery code. See How do I recover my Vault on a new phone? above.

Without at least one of those, neither you nor MiSalvo can recover your Vault contents. That is the honest cost of zero-knowledge encryption.

For a Junior phone, the bill payer authenticates and sends a fresh private recovery link. Juniors do not use Vault key or Spare Key.

Can I leave and take my papers with me?

Yes. Before you delete your account you can download a usable copy of the documents you own. You confirm you saved the export before leave unlocks. Ending a Vault trial or cancelling billing is not the same as wiping the account. Full erasure is an explicit leave path, with a cooling-off window so you can change your mind. A free Missions-only account can continue until you choose to leave.

What if MiSalvo shuts down?

Your papers are not stuck inside this app. In Account you can download a usable copy of the documents you own. Save that export on a device you keep. Those files open as ordinary PDFs and photos.

If the company ever winds down, we will say so in the app and leave time to download while the service is still running. We cannot hand you files after the servers are gone. That is why the export is yours to take now, not only when you leave.

We cannot read your Vault. We also cannot unlock it for you if you lose your keys. Those are the same honest limits.

Where is MiSalvo based?

MiSalvo Inc. is a Delaware corporation. Registered work and mail is on the Company page. There is no public walk-in office.

Where do you post updates?

On our social channels linked from the site. We do not drip product news by email. Once you have the app, in-app messages are the source of truth.

Where do I get product support?

First: Account → Help in the app. If you cannot open the app, email . Legal and DMCA notices are on Contact and in our Terms.

Where are the full legal documents?

Privacy Policy, Security, and Terms of Service. This FAQ is plain language. If anything here and the legal pages ever disagree, those pages are the official ones. And we want to know so we can fix the gap.
