Which bank account does the tax authority use for a refund in Portugal?

The tax authority says it pays refunds in Portugal to the IBAN linked to your tax number. You register that IBAN yourself on the tax portal, or you declare it in person at a tax office. The bank must confirm you own the account before the IBAN counts, and you can name a different IBAN on the IRS return only for that refund.
