When are the school holidays for primary and secondary schools in the Netherlands?
The Ministry of Education sets three compulsory holidays for primary schools and secondary schools in the Netherlands: two weeks at Christmas, six weeks in summer, and one week in May. Autumn and spring holidays are advice dates. A school may move those advice dates if the participation council agrees. Summer dates rotate by region, North, Middle, and South, and the regions overlap for four weeks. A region is first or last for two years in a row. A holiday usually follows about 7 to 8 weeks of school. Vocational colleges and universities set their own dates. The school guide lists the days for that school.
