What paid rest break does state law require for adult workers in California?
California requires a paid 10-minute rest period for each 4 hours worked, or a major fraction of 4 hours, as practicable in the middle of the work period. It is not required when the day's work is less than 3.5 hours. That rest includes a paid cool-down period to prevent heat illness.
