What are the mandatory rest days in Mexico?
The Federal Labour Law lists these mandatory rest days in Mexico: 1 January, the first Monday in February to mark 5 February, the third Monday in March to mark 21 March, 1 May, 16 September, the third Monday in November to mark 20 November, and 25 December. 1 October is also a mandatory rest day every six years, when the Federal Executive changes. The ordinary election day set by federal and local election laws is a mandatory rest day too. The employer and the workers agree how many people work that day. If they do not agree, the labour tribunal decides. A person who works is paid for the rest day and also receives double wages for the work.
