What are the public holidays in Ireland?
Ireland has 10 public holidays each year: New Year's Day on 1 January, the first Monday in February, or 1 February when that date is a Friday, Saint Patrick's Day on 17 March, Easter Monday, the first Monday in May, the first Monday in June, the first Monday in August, the last Monday in October, Christmas Day on 25 December, and Saint Stephen's Day on 26 December. Good Friday is not a public holiday. Most employees are entitled to paid leave on a public holiday. A full-time employee has that from the start. A part-time employee has it after 40 hours of work in the previous 5 weeks. The paid leave can be a paid day off on the holiday, an extra day of annual leave, an extra day's pay, or a paid day off within a month.
