What pay applies on a public holiday in the United Arab Emirates?
Federal Decree-Law 33 of 2021 says a worker is entitled to official days off with full pay on public holidays set by a Cabinet resolution. If the worker works on that day, the employer gives another day off, or pays the wage for that day plus an increase of not less than 50 percent of the basic wage. The holiday itself is defined by the Cabinet, not by the workplace.
