What does a dog, cat, or ferret need to travel from Belgium?
The health ministry says the animal needs a microchip, or a readable tattoo made before 3 July 2011, a rabies vaccination from 12 weeks of age given at least 21 days before you leave, and a European passport from a veterinarian. Coming back from another European Union country, that passport is the only document Belgium asks for. A trip with more than five animals follows the commercial rules, unless it is a show, a competition, or training and the animals are older than six months.
