What does a dog, cat, or ferret need to travel in the European Union from Austria?
For travel inside the European Union or the European Economic Area, Austria requires a pet passport for a dog, cat, or ferret. An animal over three months has a valid rabies vaccination written in that passport. Since 3 July 2011 a cat or ferret is identified with a chip, and a tattoo counts only if it was done earlier and can still be read.
