What should I check before I pay a pet seller in the United States?
The FTC says to search the seller's name with words like review, scam, or complaint. Only a scammer says you must pay with a gift card, a payment app, cryptocurrency, or a wire transfer. The same page says to consider a local rescue or animal shelter, where you can see the animal.
