What does a cat or dog need to enter New Zealand?

MPI says a cat or dog can be imported only from a country on its category list, and you apply for an import permit. Except for an animal from Australia, and except for an assistance dog, it spends at least 10 days in an MPI-approved quarantine facility. The same steps name breed limits and a pregnancy limit.
