What does a dog, cat, or ferret need to enter Italy from another European Union country?
The health ministry says the animal needs a European passport that records the microchip or the tattoo and a valid rabies vaccination, issued by an authorised veterinarian in the country it comes from. The animal is at least 12 weeks old when the vaccine is given, and the vaccine comes after the chip is read. A first vaccination counts only from day 21, and a later one must fall inside the validity of the one before it.
