What does a dog, cat, or ferret need to enter Spain from another European Union country?
To enter Spain from another European Union country, a dog, cat, or ferret needs a microchip, or a tattoo made before 3 July 2011 that can still be read, a valid rabies vaccination recorded in a European pet passport, and the named sections of that passport filled in. Spain does not allow entry of an animal under 15 weeks, because it would not yet have a valid rabies vaccination. The vaccine is given from 12 weeks of age, and it counts only after at least 21 days.
