What does a dog, cat, or ferret need to enter Germany from outside the European Union?
German customs says a dog, cat, or ferret from outside the European Union must be microchipped, have a valid rabies vaccination, and travel with an official veterinary certificate that records the chip. The owner, or a person they authorise in writing, must travel with the animal, and the trip must not be a sale. An animal that arrives without those papers can be sent back, quarantined, or in some cases euthanised.
