What does a dog or cat need to enter Brazil?

The agriculture ministry says a dog or cat needs an international veterinary certificate, or an official passport, issued by the veterinary authority of the country it comes from and meeting Brazil's health rules. If you left Brazil for a listed country with a certificate in the agreed form, that certificate lets the animal return for 60 days while the rabies vaccination is still valid. Other companion animals need an import authorisation from the federal agriculture office in the destination state.
