What happens to my credit if I apply for more than one loan in the same month in the United States?
The CFPB says credit inquiries within 14 to 45 days of each other, for the same type of loan, are generally counted as one inquiry. A mortgage and a different loan, such as an auto loan, in that same stretch generally count as more than one inquiry, and that can lower the score. For the most common scoring models, a mortgage inquiry in the 30 days before the score is calculated has no effect on that score. A check of your own report does not change the score. This page does not say a lender will approve the loan.
