How does a lender check that a mortgage is affordable in the United Kingdom?
MoneyHelper says the lender adds up household income. That can include basic salary and income from a second job, freelancing, benefits, commission, or bonuses. The lender also looks at regular bills, spending, and debts such as loans and credit cards, to see what is left for the mortgage payment.
