What is an individual micro-entrepreneur in Brazil?

The federal services page says registering as an individual micro-entrepreneur formalises self-employed work, with a company number, invoices, simplified tax, and a social-security contribution. The person must carry out an activity on the official tables, stay inside the yearly revenue cap that page prints for that table, and not be a partner or a manager of another firm. The person may hire at most one employee.
