What meal break does state law require for adult workers in California?
California requires a 30-minute meal period if work is more than 5 hours in a day. It can be waived by agreement when the workday is 6 hours or less. A second 30-minute meal period is required after 10 hours, and that second break can be waived only if the first was not waived and the day is no more than 12 hours.
