What should I read before I agree to a credit card in Canada?
If you apply for a credit card at a federally regulated institution such as a bank, the application must include an information box. That box sets out the interest rates, the fees, and the other charges in a clear way. An annual fee, if the institution charges one, is one of those charges. The page says an annual fee usually appears on the statement once a year. Cards with an annual fee usually offer extra rewards or a lower interest rate. The page also says you may choose a card with no annual fee. You must be of legal age in your province before you apply. This page does not pick a card.
