What happens if I apply for several credit cards at the same time in Germany?
When you apply for a credit card or a current account, the bank may ask SCHUFA about your creditworthiness. SCHUFA counts inquiries and new contracts for cards and current accounts over the past 12 months. It says payment defaults are statistically more common when there are many of them, and that lowers this part of the score. Several inquiries inside 28 days count once. Three or more inquiries or contracts in 12 months score zero points on this criterion. Fewer than three still receive points.
