What must a lender tell me if it says no to a credit card in the United States?
If a lender turns down your application, it must send a written notice. The CFPB says the notice lists the main reasons, or it tells you that you can ask for those reasons within 60 days. If the decision used your credit report, the notice must include the score they used, the factors that affected it, and the name and phone number of the credit reporting company.
