oesterreich.gv.at says wage tax in Austria is calculated as if you earned the same amount all year. If your pay changed, an employee assessment recalculates the tax across the year, and a credit goes to your account when you paid too much. If the result is more tax and no mandatory filing reason applies, you can withdraw the application.
