What costs can I add when a home sale in France is taxed?
The tax office says the gain on a taxed property sale is the sale price minus the acquisition price. The acquisition price is the price actually paid, as written in the purchase deed. You can add charges and compensation you paid the seller, and purchase costs such as the notary, registration duty, or VAT. If you cannot show those purchase costs, you can deduct a flat 7.5 percent of the purchase price. Work of construction, rebuilding, enlargement, or improvement done by a firm can be added if you can show it. If you have held the property for more than 5 years and cannot show that work, you can deduct a flat 15 percent of the purchase price. This page does not work out your tax.
