When is night work prohibited for a 16 or 17 year old in New York?
The Department of Labor child labor table, revised July 15, 2025, limits night work for a 16 or 17 year old in New York from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. while school is in session. Written permission from a parent and the school can move the start to midnight before a school day, and parental consent can allow midnight before a day when there is no school. While school is out, the table lists midnight to 6 a.m..
