What are the federal holidays in the United States?
Federal law sets these public holidays for federal employees: New Year's Day, the Birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr., Washington's Birthday, Memorial Day, Juneteenth National Independence Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. The Office of Personnel Management publishes the date for each year. For most federal employees who work Monday to Friday, a Sunday holiday is observed on Monday, and a Saturday holiday is observed on Friday. Inauguration Day is a holiday for federal employees in the Washington, DC, area when a president is inaugurated. State offices and private employers set their own days.
