What can I do if I lose Medicaid or CHIP in the United States?
HealthCare.gov says a state renewal can end Medicaid or CHIP when household income is too high or other rules are not met. You can apply for a Marketplace plan as early as 60 days before that coverage ends. You have 90 days after it ends to enroll. The plan starts at the beginning of the next month after you finish enrollment. You do not have to wait for a letter from the Marketplace. You can re-apply for Medicaid or CHIP through your state at any time. Do not pay anyone who says you must pay them to keep Medicaid or CHIP, or to apply for Marketplace coverage. The same page says to ask whether a job offers coverage. It also points to Medicare when someone can get Medicare and did not sign up when they first could. Confirm on the official page.
