What do I do after a car accident in Poland?
The police say that when nobody is hurt and the material loss is small, the people involved are not required to call the police. They call the police when someone is hurt, or when the circumstances suggest a crime, for example a crash while intoxicated. If they agree that the circumstances are clear, they exchange statements and then tell their insurers. They move the vehicles off the road at once, unless someone is hurt. If they cannot move them, they switch on the hazard lights and set out a warning triangle. On a motorway or expressway the triangle is 100 metres back. On other roads outside a built-up area it is 30 to 50 metres back.
