What is the Unique Disability ID card in India?
The Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities says the UDID card is one document that identifies a disability and is valid across India. A citizen with one of the 21 disabilities named in the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 can apply, and a legal guardian may apply for a minor or for a person who cannot apply. The application is online on the UDID portal, there is no fee, and the card is sent by speed post after a hospital assessment.
