What is the maternity cash benefit for a mother in India?
The Ministry of Women and Child Development says this cash benefit is for a pregnant woman or a lactating mother, from the age of eighteen years and seven months up to fifty-five, in a group the page lists as socially and economically disadvantaged. For a first child the page pays two instalments, one after the pregnancy is registered with at least one antenatal check, and one after the birth is registered and the child has had the due vaccines. A second child is covered only when that child is a girl, in one instalment, and the page prints the amounts.
