What is e-Shram registration for unorganised workers in India?
The e-Shram FAQ says this is the national database of unorganised workers, and registration issues a universal account number of 12 digits. An unorganised worker is a home-based worker, a self-employed worker, or a wage worker in the unorganised sector who is not a member of ESIC or EPFO, and the person must be 16 or older. Registration needs an Aadhaar number and a mobile number linked to that Aadhaar, and the FAQ says there is no fee and no income test.
