When does a car need an NCT in Ireland?
The Road Safety Authority says a private car needs a National Car Test when it is four years old, then every two years until its 10th anniversary, and every year after that. At 30 years it goes back to every two years. From 40 years it is exempt. The test is due on the anniversary of first registration. When it passes, you get an NCT certificate and a disc. The certificate is not a warranty. You can check the due date on the NCTS website.
