How long is maternity leave in Hong Kong?
A female employee under a continuous contract who has given notice of the pregnancy and of her intention to take leave is entitled to 14 weeks of maternity leave. If the birth is later than expected, extra days follow, and up to four more weeks can be added for illness or disability from the pregnancy or the birth. Pay at four-fifths of average daily wages, for those 14 weeks, applies if she has been employed under a continuous contract for at least 40 weeks before the leave starts, and the guide caps the pay for the 11th week through the 14th.
