What is the wage guarantee fund in Spain?
FOGASA says it is an autonomous body of the labour ministry that guarantees workers the wages, and the compensation for dismissal or for the end of the job, that are still unpaid because the employer is insolvent or in insolvency proceedings. Wage cover includes extraordinary payments and processing wages, and the maximum is twice the daily minimum wage, with extra payments prorated, multiplied by the unpaid days, up to 120 days. The fund does not cover distance, transport, or clothing extras, tool wear, travel allowances, temporary-incapacity top-ups, or other compensation-type extras.
