What do I do after a car accident in Spain?
The traffic authority says the first actions are protect, then alert, then help, and only help if you know how. Park in a safe place, off the road if you can. Switch the vehicle off, put the handbrake on, and switch on the hazard lights. Put the reflective vest on before you get out. On a two-way road, place warning triangles 50 metres in both directions. On a one-way road, such as a motorway, place the first at 50 metres and the second, if you need it, at least 150 metres away. Call 112 with the place, the vehicles, how many people are hurt, and any special danger, such as someone trapped or dangerous goods. Do not take off a motorcyclist's helmet. Do not move an injured person unless you know how, except when fire or an explosion is about to happen.
