What is the difference between fully comprehensive and third-party car insurance in Germany?
BaFin says motor liability insurance is compulsory and pays when other people are harmed by the insured vehicle. Cover for your own vehicle is voluntary, and the law does not set a minimum for it. Partial cover usually includes fire, explosion, theft, storm, hail, lightning, flood, broken glass, and a short circuit in the wiring. Fully comprehensive cover adds the cost of an accident you cause and deliberate damage by someone else.
