What do I do after a car accident in Germany?
Section 34 of the road traffic rules says that anyone involved must stop at once, secure the traffic, and, if the damage is slight, move aside at once. Check what happened, and help anyone who is injured. Tell the other people present that you were involved. If they ask, give your name and address, show your driving licence and the vehicle registration certificate, and give your liability insurance details as far as you know them. Stay until they can record who you are, which vehicle it was, and how you were involved. Do not remove traces before those facts are recorded.
