How do I apply for a passport in Switzerland?
fedpol says a person in Switzerland can request a passport, an identity card, or both, online, by phone, or at the passport office of the canton where they live. After the request is checked, the canton or the commune records the data, and a person living abroad applies online and then attends the Swiss representation for a face image, a signature, and fingerprints for a passport. A provisional passport is issued only in an urgent justified case or when the trip is about to start, it lasts for that trip and for at most 12 months, and not every country accepts it.
