What is disability insurance in Switzerland?
The AHV and IV information centre says disability insurance benefits are for an insured person whose health damage partly or wholly limits their work, or their previous area of tasks, when that damage is expected to last a longer time. A person under 20 can also receive benefits when the damage is expected to affect their ability to work later. The insurance first looks at integration measures, a pension is examined only when reasonable measures cannot restore, keep, or improve the ability to earn, and the request goes to the IV office of the canton of residence.
