What is the old-age pension in Switzerland?
The AHV and IV information centre says a person has a claim to an old-age pension in Switzerland when they have reached the reference age and at least one full contribution year can be credited. For men the reference age is 65 years, for women it rises from 64 years by three months each year from 2025, and from 2028 the reference age is 65 years for women and men. The claim starts on the first day of the month after the reference age is reached, and the compensation office asks the person to file about three to four months before that.
