What is the accident allowance in Brazil?
The INSS says the accident allowance is an indemnity paid when an accident leaves a permanent sequela that definitively reduces the capacity for work, and the federal medical exam assesses that. The person must have been insured at the time as an employee, a domestic employee, a casual worker, or a special rural insured person, and there is no waiting period. A self-employed contributor and a voluntary contributor are not covered, and the indemnity does not stop the person from continuing to work.
