How do I join a sickness fund in Belgium?
INAMI says a person in Belgium joins a sickness fund to receive the compulsory health-care benefits and the indemnities for incapacity, maternity, birth leave, adoption, and removal from work. Every sickness fund offers that compulsory insurance, and a person can instead register with a regional office of the auxiliary fund, which pays the same compulsory benefits. The auxiliary fund does not charge a contribution and does not offer the extra insurance that a sickness fund adds on top.
