What do I do if my car breaks down in a tunnel in Austria?
oesterreich.gv.at says that in a tunnel you switch on the hazard lights and stop on the stopping strip, in a breakdown bay, or at the right edge of the lane. Switch off the engine and leave the key in. If you leave the vehicle, put on the high-visibility vest. Outside a breakdown bay, secure the vehicle with a warning triangle. Use the emergency telephone, or the SOS or fire button. That call is located automatically. Do not use a mobile phone for that call. Give first aid if someone needs it, and follow the tunnel staff.
