What do I do after a car accident in Austria?
oesterreich.gv.at says the people involved stop at once and tell the nearest police station. They secure the scene and help establish what happened. If only property is damaged, they may skip the police call when they show each other their name and address. If someone is hurt, they give first aid at once or get help. They note injuries, skid marks, where the vehicles stopped, and the names and addresses of witnesses. It is advisable to fill in the European accident report at the scene and have the people involved sign it. If that form is not at hand, they note the names and addresses, the liability insurers, and the policy numbers. They tell their own liability insurer and the other liability insurer at once, and within a week at the latest, even if they think they share no fault. They mark that notice as a precautionary report.
